About Dannemora
Dannemora is one of Auckland's newer suburbs, developed on former farmland through the 1990s and early 2000s, and named by developer Wayne Francis after his horse stud farm near Christchurch rather than after anything local. It sits about 22 kilometres southeast of the city centre, in the Howick ward, with the area's highest point being Puke-i-Aki-Rangi, a 142 metre hill also known as Point View.
Like much of East Auckland, Dannemora falls within the rohe of Ngai Tai ki Tamaki, whose connection to the area traces back to the Tainui waka around the year 1300. Most of the suburb's housing was built during the 1990s, giving it a fairly consistent character compared to older, more mixed-age suburbs nearby. It's close to Lloyd Elsmore Park, Botany Town Centre, and Pakuranga Plaza, making it a convenient base within East Auckland without a lot of standalone landmarks of its own.
As of June 2025, Dannemora had a population of around 4,400, making it one of the smaller and quieter suburbs in this part of East Auckland.
