Musick Point's Exposed Headland
Known to Maori as Te Naupata, the headland was the site of a fortified pa built by Ngai Tai in the first half of the 18th century, before being overrun by Ngapuhi in 1821. In colonial times it was known as East Head, and it took its current name in 1942 in honour of American aviator Ed Musick.
The Musick Memorial Radio Station was built on the headland in 1940 and officially opened by Prime Minister Peter Fraser in January 1942. During the Second World War it was New Zealand's main communications link with forces in the Pacific, and it continued operating as a maritime radio and Morse code station until 1993. The clifftop reserve now gives close to 270 degree views across the Hauraki Gulf, from the Coromandel Peninsula to the Waitakere Ranges, and remains one of the most exposed public viewpoints in East Auckland.
A golf course has occupied part of the headland since 1954, when the former Cockle Bay golf course relocated to Musick Point, making it one of the more distinctive settings for a round of golf anywhere in Auckland.

Pool Care at the Point
Right at the tip of the peninsula, properties here are about as exposed to wind and salt as it gets in East Auckland. Equipment housing and regular checks on anything metal make the biggest difference.
Every visit, regardless of plan, starts with a full water test (pH, chlorine, alkalinity) checked against target range, plus a visual equipment check.
If a pool has gone green or badly out of balance, it's treated as a priority ahead of routine visits. Most pools are fully recovered within about 4 visits.
