Bucklands Beach, Then and Now
In 1851, William Mason bought 320 acres at what's now Bucklands Beach and farmed it as Mason's Beach, a name that stuck until the late 1940s. Alfred Buckland, one of Auckland's largest agriculturalists, bought the farm in 1861, and it later developed into a holiday destination in the 1910s before becoming a full suburb through the 1950s, after Howick became a borough council.
The peninsula sits on Waitemata sandstone and juts out into the Tamaki Strait, ending at Te Naupata, better known today as Musick Point. Bucklands Beach Reserve and the Bucklands Beach Path give long stretches of coastal walking, with views across the Hauraki Gulf toward Waiheke Island and the Coromandel. The suburb is around 13 kilometres east of the Auckland CBD.
As of June 2025, Bucklands Beach had a population of around 10,480, making it one of the larger and more established suburbs on the peninsula, with a mix of original 1950s and 60s homes alongside newer waterfront builds.

Pool Care on the Peninsula
The peninsula is exposed on both sides, so wind carries leaves, sand and salt into pools. Regular cleaning and a close eye on equipment exposed to the coast keep things running.
Every visit, regardless of plan, starts with a full water test (pH, chlorine, alkalinity) checked against target range, plus a visual equipment check.
If a pool has gone green or badly out of balance, it's treated as a priority ahead of routine visits. Most pools are fully recovered within about 4 visits.
Our Work in Bucklands Beach
