Epoxy painting, plaster resurfacing, and liner repairs for pools with a surface that's had its day.
A pool surface that's rough, staining, or visibly deteriorating affects both how the pool feels and how well it holds its water chemistry. A degraded surface is more porous, which gives algae more places to take hold and makes the water chemistry harder to keep stable, on top of being rougher underfoot.
What We Cover
Epoxy painting is done on both fibreglass and concrete pools, using the Cohe Group DuraFinish Pool System: a DuraPrime primer followed by 2 to 3 coats of DuraFinish. It suits concrete, fibreglass, and steel pools, and is resistant to chlorine and salt.
Plaster resurfacing is also covered, for concrete pools with an existing plaster finish. It isn't an option for fibreglass shells.

How an Epoxy Job Runs
The general process, based on manufacturer guidance, starts with draining the pool and removing any loose or flaking material, then cleaning and degreasing the whole surface. From there the surface is prepared for the new coating: bare concrete is acid etched, while fibreglass or previously painted epoxy is sanded rather than acid washed.
Cracks and imperfections get patched, and the shell then needs to dry completely before painting starts, which takes several dry days depending on the weather. Primer goes on first, followed by 2 to 3 coats of DuraFinish, following the manufacturer's recoat times between each one.
The coating then needs to cure before the pool is refilled. For an outdoor pool that's typically around 5 to 7 dry days, longer if it rains during that window. Once refilled, it's worth holding off on salt and heavy chemical dosing for the first few days before the water gets properly balanced.
The total timeframe from draining to swimming depends on the pool's condition and the weather, but is usually somewhere around one to two weeks. A proper timeframe for your pool specifically is part of every quote.
Plaster or Epoxy?
Epoxy is the right option for fibreglass pools, since plaster isn't used on that surface. It's also a good choice for concrete pools that are already painted or need a smooth, fresh finish at a lower cost than replastering.
Plaster suits concrete pools that already have a plaster finish, or that need a traditional, long lasting surface. We assess the pool in person and recommend the right option as part of the quote, rather than defaulting to one or the other.
